Why I Built an AI Share of Voice Tracker (because Google Console is not enough)

We all obsess over Google rankings, but lately, I realized a huge chunk of my traffic wasn't coming from search, it was coming from users asking ChatGPT and Perplexity for recommendations.
The problem? Google Search Console tells you nothing about this. It doesn't tell you if ChatGPT cited your product or if Perplexity listed your competitor as the #1 solution.
The Blind Spot
If a user asks ChatGPT: "What is the best SEO tool for 2026?", and it answers "Semrush and Ahrefs", you have lost a potential customer. And you won't even know it happened.
I call this the AI Blind Spot.
So I built ViaMetric to solve this. It's an "AI Share of Voice" tracker. Think of it like Ahrefs, but for LLMs.
What ViaMetric Does
- Tracks Mentions: Monitors ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini for your brand keywords.
- Share of Voice Score: Gives you a %, showing how often you appear compared to total queries.
- Competitor Gap Matrix: Shows you specifically where your competitors are being cited but you aren't.
- Sentiment Analysis: Understands if the AI is recommending you or warning against you.
Fair Pricing (Bring Your Own Key)
Most enterprise SEO tools charge $100-$500/month because they mark up API costs heavily. I decided to do something different: Bring Your Own Key (BYOK).
You use your own OpenAI/Perplexity API keys, so you pay actual usage cost (often pennies), and ViaMetric stays extremely affordable.
The Future is "Answer Engine Optimization"
I tried searching for my own previous apps in Perplexity and realized it was hallucinating completely wrong info. Once I started tracking and optimizing for "AEO" (Answer Engine Optimization), specifically targeting the sources these AIs cite, my visibility shot up.
I built ViaMetric to give everyone that same superpower.
